Job, for most of us, is the regular work that a person does to earn money. The other day I came across a comment on an article that said: "Sometimes I wonder if love for one’s job even exist”. I used to believe the same. I mean, how can someone even like their job. After 4 years of being in that phase, I decided to volunteer myself as a teacher among girls rescued from human trafficking. I noticed that I was in a much happier place then. Being on both sides of this topic I agree that one can love what he does.
Based on my observations I have made a checklist to know if you love your job:
1. You are happy
You might not be having a six-figure salary, a mansion, and a luxury car but you are happy and satisfied with what you have. You feel privileged to be where there are.
2. Money isn’t the only driving factor anymore.
You do appreciate a salary hike or promotion but it’s no longer the quintessential factor for you to stick on to your job. You can’t always put a price tag on the fulfillment of doing what you love.
3. You never get bored
There is no monotony as every day is a different day, a different scenario. Monday mornings aren't boring and you also don’t keep checking the time every minute.
4. You are creative
You are not scared to take risks in life. You believe that there is so much more to be done. You look for ways to make your work even more meaningful.
5. You are proactive
Ask someone, who loves their work, about their responsibilities and they’ll tell you that they are saving the world in the best way they can. you don’t need to be micromanaged to get work done.
6. You Influence others
There is a lot of positivity around you. You focus more on the good than the bad of others. They influence not just their teams but even their society.
7. You are willing to volunteer
If you see your team not performing well you don’t shy away from helping them but rather volunteer to train them and support them. Your team members look up to you as someone they can rely on.
8. You have a vision about your life
You will have a clear vision for the future and you will find your true purpose for your life. The next stage will be to broaden your vision to accommodate the betterment of others.
9. You are always a student
When you face challenges, you are not willing to give up. These challenges are seen not as a problem but as an opportunity to learn something new.
10. You see exponential growth in your career
Success is not something that happens overnight and it is not the result of meeting just 1 criterion. It’s the result of achieving a lot of smaller milestones.
